Craft industry and trades of art in Tunisia
Tunisia knew the artisanal trade since antiquity since manual work was the base of industries. The craft industry thrived that the souks constituted a component of urban fabric of the Arab city.
The hafside era was characterized by the organization of the souks according to the activity and specificities of each trade from where denomination of the souk like souk El Attarine (souk of the perfumers) or souk El Hajjamine (souk of the hairdressers). Because of the development and opening of the country in the occident, artisanal work lost its utility and becomes on the way of the decline.
